The Details
Small, bumpy-skinned and impossible to mistake for anything else. Our yuzu is hand-picked from our own trees here in the Wairarapa, a rare thing to get fresh in New Zealand, with a fragrance that fills the kitchen the moment you slice into one.
Available while the season lasts.
Things to Do
Grate the zest over fish, noodles or a finishing sauce. Squeeze the juice into a dressing, a marinade, or a cocktail in place of lemon or lime. Steep slices in hot water and honey for a warming yuzu tea, or use the peel to make your own marmalade.
Where It Came From
Grown spray-free in our Wairarapa orchard, ripened slowly on the tree and picked by hand. Even the fertilising is natural — our horses graze among the trees.Grown on our family orchard in the Wairarapa, spray-free and picked by hand at their peak.
Our yuzu trees are the reason Good Hands exists, we planted them before most people here had heard of yuzu, drawn to a fruit the Japanese have prized for centuries. Even the fertilising is done the natural way: our horses graze among the trees, feeding the soil that feeds the fruit.
The Goodness
Yuzu is right up there with any citrus for vitamin C, alongside antioxidants like flavonoids that help protect your cells day to day. Its fragrance alone has been linked to lifting mood and easing stress, so there's something to be said for simply having one on the bench.
